School Supplies


WJPS Basic School Supply List

Please be reminded that individual teachers may have other needs.   There are links at the bottom of the page so you can print out a list.

Incoming 8th and 9th grade students should read all the way to the bottom of this post for a list of additional items.  


Ø  3-ring loose leaf binder depending on student/teacher preference
(If used, it should be stocked with dividers and loose-leaf paper)
Ø  blue or black ink ballpoint pens
Ø  #2 pencils
Ø  Post-It Notes (5-pack assorted sizes)
Ø  1 pack of graph paper
Ø  12-inch ruler
Ø  Compass and Protractor
Ø  Calculator, see below for type:
High School:  graphing
6-8 Grade:  Scientific (TI)
Ø  5 Marble Composition Books – 100 sheet
Ø  1 Glue Stick
Ø  5 folders with pockets
Ø  1 pack index cards
Ø  1 6 or 12 pack washable markers
Ø  2 highlighters
Ø  Thumb Drive (available from school store)




Attention NEW STUDENTS:  Only school combination locks are used.
They will be available for a non-refundable, one-time only rental fee of $5.00,
to be collected on the first day of school.




The following donated items would be greatly appreciated.  They can be brought to advisory class during the first few days of school.  Please mark them clearly with student’s full name and grade:

2 packages of 8 ½ X 11 copy paper
 Hand sanitizer         
Ball point pens         
Washable markers



We are no longer able to offer the following items, so students need to bring their own, as needed:
Mini DV Cassette, Memory Card for camera, Rewritable CD/DVD


8th graders should have the following Barrons Regents Exams and Answers paperback books:

  • Earth Science – the Physical Setting
  • Integrated Algebra

9th graders should have the following Barrons Regents Exams and Answers paperback books:

  • US History and Government
  • Biology - Living Environment
  • Integrated Algebra or Geometry

College Now free college classes available at Baruch for rising Juniors & Seniors

For students who will be Juniors & Seniors in September, Baruch is offering a free college course.  Students who pass the course will have CUNY college credits.  Students may take one of the following six classes:
(Session 1 begins August 26): Introduction to Business, Fundamentals of Business Law, General Psychology,(Session 2 begins September 26):  Inroduction to Cultural Anthropology, Speech Communication and Writing.  Students can only take one of the six classes.

The deadline to apply has been extended to Friday, August 5, 2011.

School Uniform Information

The authorized school uniform companies are Ideal Uniform Company and Lands' End School Uniforms. Students must wear a school uniform everyday unless otherwise advised. For the most part, jeans are not allowed.  If a "jeans day" is declared, or if a student has a "jeans day pass," a WJPS logo shirt must still be worn.  Please order uniform pieces as soon as possible so they are ready when school starts.

Here are the mandatory uniform items:
Dress Uniform:
Navy Blazer with WJPS logo
Button down white oxford shirt/blouse, long or short sleeve, with WJPS logo
Khaki trousers with WJPS logo at the waist
Gym Uniform:
T-Shirt in gold or navy (only Ideal Uniforms has both gold & navy) with WJPS logo
Sweatpants or shorts with WJPS logo

Other items that students may wear:
Trousers in navy, black or grey with WJPS logo at the waist
Polo shirt, short or long sleeve, in white, navy or black with WJPS logo
Zip up hoodie in navy or black with WJPS logo (must still wear a WJPS shirt underneath)
Pull-over hoodie in navy or black with WJPS logo (must still wear a WJPS shirt underneath)
Fleece jacket in navy or black with WJPS logo (must still wear a WJPS shirt underneath)
Turtleneck in white, black or navy with WJPS logo
Cardigan sweater in black or navy with WJPS logo (must still wear a WJPS shirt underneath)

Ideal Uniform Company is a local New York business that has been family run for over 80 years.  There are stores in Brooklyn and the Bronx in addition to the new location in Elmont.  We have already had one “measuring night” at school with Ideal.  In addition to measuring kids, they brought bags and bags of blank items in all different sizes for students to try on.  They will be returning again in a few weeks.

To add the embroidered school logo, Lands’ End adds $5.50 to each item.  To add the screen-printed school logo (t-shirt, sweatpants, etc.), it is $2.50.
For example, a basic Lands’ End School Uniform T-shirt is $9.50.  With the WJPS logo, it is $12.00 ($9.50 + $2.50).  The logo charges are added separately at the bottom of the “shopping cart.”

For New Incoming 6th & 9th Grade Students

Welcome Incoming Students & Families!

Parents, Guardians and Students, please drop in to pick up important forms that need to be filled out and returned before school starts in September.

Ideal Uniform Company will be here to measure students.  A $25 deposit is required, checks or money orders made payable to "Ideal Uniforms." There will also be information about ordering from Land's End Uniforms.

If you are unable to attend, please send an email to Helen Reed, Parent Coordinator, at helen.reed@wjps.org with parent/guardian name, student name and email addresses for both, so we have this information on file for contacting you this summer.
